Inspired by the ideals of Swami Vivekananda, Jnana Prabodhini the mother organization was founded in 1962, by V. V. alias Appa Pendse. JPP opened a training cum production workshop in Shivaganga river valley near Pune. It was the beginning of experiments in nurturing rural entrepreneurship. With 14 years of experience in rural development activities Dr. Anna Tamhankar come to Harali, first, for rehabilitation and then for rural education and innovative agriculture. By now the following activities have gained momentum in Harali.
  1. A rural residential school
  2. An agricultural polytechnic
  3. Horticulture with 6500 fruit trees
  4. A plant nursery
  5. Agri. tourism center
  6. A center for rural medical service
  7. Extension activities in 7 neighboring villages

Jnana Prabodhini- Harali is a branch of JPP. After the massive earthquake in south Marathwada in 1993, JP started
rehabilitation work in village Harali in district Osmanabad. Starting with a small school in one of the damaged houses, JPH
has grown into an agricultural-educational complex spread over 60 acres of land. The complex includes a rural residential
school, an agricultural poly-technique (agro-technical diploma college) and fruit orchards. A barren land turned in to green
