Inspired by the ideals of Swami Vivekananda, Jnana Prabodhini the mother organization was founded in 1962, by V. V. alias Appa Pendse. JPP opened a training cum production workshop in Shivaganga river valley near Pune. It was the beginning of experiments in nurturing rural entrepreneurship. With 14 years of experience in rural development activities Dr. Anna Tamhankar come to Harali, first, for rehabilitation and then for rural education and innovative agriculture. By now the following activities have gained momentum in Harali.
